Aprilia RS 457
2026 Aprilia RS 457: 47.6 hp A2 sports bike, 457 cc parallel twin, aluminium frame, 175 kg, €7,300. Full specs, press reviews and rivals.
At a glance
The Aprilia RS 457 is a fully faired sports bike designed for the A2 licence: its 457 cc parallel twin makes 47.6 hp (35 kW) as standard, in an aluminium frame, for 175 kg wet. Priced at €7,300 (€7,600 for the GP Replica), it costs more than its rivals, and Cycle World credits it with the most complete electronics in the segment (ride-by-wire, three riding modes, traction control). Reviewers praise its flexible engine, precise chassis and overall balance, and criticise braking that fades on track with the single front disc, an optional quickshifter on the standard version and cheap-feeling plastics.

Press ratings
Torquey 270° twin, among the best in the class, stiff and precise chassis, consistent fade-free braking on track, the most complete electronics in the segment; compact ergonomics.
Remarkable chassis-engine balance, superb turn-in, progressive and torquey engine, well-calibrated electronics; brakes tire after many track laps, vibrations through the footpegs at high revs.
Linear, vibration-free engine, very agile chassis, the most effective in its class for sports riding; braking fades on track with the single front disc.
The most harmonious A2 bike in its comparison test (engine, chassis, sound); hard front brake that is difficult to modulate, ABS releasing too much pressure at the limit.
Flexible engine, handling and weight praised; almost non-existent rear brake on the test bike, optional quickshifter, questionable passenger accommodation.
Fun, RS 660 looks, good value, usable every day; engine a little disappointing at the top end, quickshifter not standard, cheap plastics and switchgear.
Press synthesis
What the world’s press says
No review of the 2026 model year has been published: the press tested the 2024 launch model, which is technically identical. The average score of 80/100 is calculated from the three numeric scores: 4/5 from MCN, 5/5 from Bennetts BikeSocial and 606/1000 from MOTORRAD’s Top-Test. That 1,000-point scale, very severe by design, pulls the average down: without it, the average would be 90/100. MOTORRAD mainly penalises the rider aids (5/20), ABS performance (11/20) and acceleration (8/40). Cycle World, Moto.it, Motociclismo, 1000PS, SoyMotero and Visordown tested it without a numeric score.
What reviewers like: a flexible, torquey engine (Cycle World, Moto.it, SoyMotero), a precise and agile chassis that MCN compares to those of the RS 660 and RSV4, an overall balance praised by Moto.it and 1000PS, and a versatility highlighted by BikeSocial and Visordown. Bennetts BikeSocial calls it “an excellent bike, full stop”, Cycle World a bike new riders won’t quickly outgrow.
What they criticise: brakes that fade on track with the single front disc (Moto.it, Motociclismo, 1000PS) and a weak rear brake (SoyMotero), an optional quickshifter on the standard version (MCN, Visordown, SoyMotero), cheap-feeling plastics and switchgear (Visordown), average stock tyres (BikeSocial), vibrations at high revs (Moto.it) and as yet unknown reliability (MCN).

Our review
Which versions, and at what price in France?
Aprilia France offers the 2026 RS 457 in two versions. The RS 457 costs €7,300 (recommended retail price), in Coral Snake Blue or Arsenic Yellow. The RS 457 GP Replica costs €7,600: it wears the livery of the RS-GP raced in MotoGP and adds a standard quickshifter, front brake pads with a higher friction coefficient, a passenger seat cowl and a black frame, swingarm and top yoke. Until 31 October 2026, a €301 discount brings the two versions down to €6,999 and €7,299. In the United States they cost $6,849 and $7,499.
The RS 457 was unveiled in September 2023 and launched to the press in March 2024 at the Modena circuit. The 2026 model year only brings new colours and the GP Replica version: according to Aprilia, the technical specification is unchanged.
A twin designed for the A2 licence
The 457 cc parallel twin (69 x 61.1 mm bore and stroke) makes 47.6 hp (35 kW) at 9,400 rpm and 43.5 Nm at 6,700 rpm, so the bike complies with the A2 licence without restriction. According to Aprilia, 82% of the torque is available from 3,000 rpm. The crank has a 270° firing interval according to the press (MCN, Cycle World, Motociclismo); Aprilia describes cylinders offset by 6.5 mm from the crankshaft, double overhead camshafts driven by a side chain, a ride-by-wire throttle and an assisted slipper clutch. The engine is Euro 5+ approved.
Cycle World ranks it among the best in the class, Moto.it finds it progressive and torquey, Motociclismo linear and vibration-free. Moto.it does, however, note vibrations through the footpegs at high revs, and Visordown was a little disappointed by the engine at the top end. Aprilia does not publish a top speed in its technical sheets; MCN and Motociclismo report 190 km/h claimed by the brand.
Big sports bike chassis
According to Aprilia, the RS 457 is the only bike in its segment with an aluminium frame: two side spars bolted to the engine, which acts as a stressed member, with a steel swingarm pivoting directly in the engine. It weighs 175 kg wet (tank 90% full) and 159 kg dry, with a 13-litre tank. The 41 mm upside-down fork and the direct-mounted shock are preload-adjustable, with 120 and 130 mm of travel. Aprilia does not publish the geometry; Motociclismo quotes 24° of rake, 103 mm of trail and a 1,350 mm wheelbase.
Braking relies on a single 320 mm front disc gripped by a radial four-piston ByBre caliper, with a 220 mm disc at the rear. Tyre sizes are 110/70-17 and 150/60-17. The chassis wins unanimous praise: MCN compares it to those of the RS 660 and RSV4, and Moto.it hails its superb turn-in. The brakes divide opinion: Cycle World finds them consistent on track, while Moto.it, Motociclismo and 1000PS judge them lacking or hard to modulate at the limit.
What electronics?
The RS 457 offers three riding modes (Eco, Sport, Rain), traction control adjustable over three levels and switchable, a two-channel Bosch ABS with two maps, one of which leaves the rear wheel free, and a 5-inch colour TFT screen. The ABS is not optimised for cornering, and there is no IMU, no wheelie control and no cruise control. The two-way quickshifter is a €199 option on the standard version; Aprilia MIA connectivity is also optional. Cycle World considers it the most complete electronics package in the segment.
Who is it for?
The RS 457 targets A2 licence holders who want a real sports bike, usable every day as well as on track. Its clip-ons sit above the top yoke and the seat is 800 mm high. It costs roughly €300 to €800 more than the CFMoto 450SR, Kawasaki Ninja 500, Honda CBR500R or Yamaha R3; in return, according to Aprilia, it is the only bike in its segment with an aluminium frame.
Maintenance, warranty and recalls
Aprilia publishes neither a type-approval fuel consumption figure in its technical sheets nor a freely available service schedule: the schedule is in the owner’s manual, supplied with the frame number. The warranty is 2 years, extended to 4 years under an offer valid until 1 November 2026. No recall is listed in France, the European Union or the United States.

Bennetts BikeSocial finds the position roomy and Visordown considers it usable every day, while Cycle World describes compact ergonomics. SoyMotero questions the passenger accommodation. Aprilia offers a taller screen (€99), comfort passenger grab handles (€49) and a single-seat cowl as accessories, the latter standard on the GP Replica.
Ownership & maintenance
Warranty
2 years / Not specified; 4 years in total under an Aprilia offer valid until 01/11/2026
Aprilia does not publish the RS 457’s service schedule: it is in the owner’s manual, accessible only with the frame number. Oil change and valve clearance intervals could therefore not be verified. Aprilia France’s commercial warranty is 2 years, with no mileage specified; an offer valid until 1 November 2026 extends it to 4 years. A paid one-year X-Care + Premium Warranty extension is offered at €211.20. MCN rates reliability 3/5: the engine is too new to judge, and the magazine recalls the issues met by the RS 660.
