At a glance
The Benelli TRK 502 is a 500 cc, 47.6 hp twin-cylinder adventure tourer for the A2 licence, priced at €6,299 in France in 2025. It was dropped from the French range for 2026, which keeps only the spoked-wheel TRK 502 X. Press ratings
Good value, comfortable and reassuring, at home on easy trails; modest power, basic suspension, wrist-bending handlebars and a soft seat.
Solid, flexible and frugal in-house engine, good protection; harsh fork, unrefined damping and spongy brakes.
Unbeatable equipment for the price against the Honda CB500X; a touch heavy, rear brake needs attention and short service intervals.
Very comprehensive equipment for the price, stable, comfortable and long range; heavy, vibrations above 7,000 rpm, finish could be better.
Euro 5 engine torquier in the midrange, big-adventure-bike comfort and protection, low fuel consumption; weight felt at a standstill, under-damped shock rebound, vibrations above 7,000 rpm.
Easy, comfortable, well protected and well built; brakes a little weak, soft suspension, side stand that scrapes and a dealer network still to be built.
Press synthesis
What the world’s press says
The road version was mostly tested at its launch (MOTORRAD, BikeSocial, SoyMotero in 2017-2018) and in 2025 by RoadRUNNER. The two numeric scores cover the TRK 502 X, which shares the engine and frame: 4/5 from MCN and 73.5/100 from Motorcycle.com. Moto.it and Le Repaire des Motards also tested the 502 X.
What reviewers like: the comprehensive equipment for the price, comfort, wind protection, stability, long range, frugality and build quality, which Le Repaire des Motards finds reassuring.
What they criticise: high weight, modest power, basic suspension, brakes lacking bite, vibrations at high revs, short service intervals and finish that could be better.
Key quotes
"Overall, the 2025 Benelli TRK 502 is a compelling choice for budget-conscious riders seeking a capable, comfortable, and good-looking adventure bike."
"A few things aren’t perfect, in that it is a touch weighty, that rear brake needs a bit of attention and the service intervals could be longer (even 6,000 miles would do it), but depending on your preferences, none of which are deal breakers."
"The Benelli TRK 502 is an excellent option if you are on a tight budget, are looking for something different and hold an A2 licence."
"This Benelli TRK 502 X has plenty going for it: first, the quality of its build and design means you never feel you are riding a shoddy Chinese copy, something roughly engineered that feels close to breaking down."
Pros
- Comprehensive equipment for the price (screen, handguards, luggage rack)
- A2-compliant without a restriction kit
- Comfort and wind protection
- Long range (20 L tank)
- 3-year warranty
Cons

- No traction control or connectivity
- Dropped from the French range in 2026
Our review
Is the TRK 502 still sold in France?
Not in road form. The 2025 model year is the last in the Benelli France range, at a manufacturer price of €6,299. Importer Moteo’s 2026 catalogue only offers the TRK 502 X (€6,799), its off-road version with 19- and 17-inch spoked wheels. The road TRK 502 is still sold in the UK, Spain and Portugal.
How does the TRK 502 differ from the TRK 502 X?
The engine, frame and equipment are the same. The TRK 502 stands out with:
- 17-inch alloy wheels and road tyres;
- a lower seat (835 mm);
- a short, low exhaust.
How good is the engine?
The 500 cc parallel twin (69 x 66.8 mm) makes 47.6 hp (35 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm: it is A2-compliant without a restriction kit. Benelli quotes 165 km/h. It has been Euro 5 compliant since 2021. According to Moto.it, the exhaust gained a secondary air system and new catalysts; the magazine finds the engine torquier in the midrange.
MOTORRAD finds it solid, flexible and frugal. SoyMotero and Moto.it note vibrations above 7,000 rpm, and RoadRUNNER finds the power merely adequate.
How does it ride?
At 235 kg kerb, the TRK 502 is heavy for its capacity, as every review points out. It is, however, rated stable, comfortable and well protected thanks to its tall screen and handguards (MOTORRAD, SoyMotero, RoadRUNNER). It has a 50 mm upside-down fork and twin 320 mm discs with radial calipers.
The reservations concern:
- basic suspension: a harsh fork for MOTORRAD, rudimentary damping for RoadRUNNER;
- spongy brakes (MOTORRAD) and a rear brake that needs attention (BikeSocial);
- a handlebar bend that tires the wrists and a soft seat (RoadRUNNER);
- finish that could be better (SoyMotero).
Fuel consumption and maintenance
Benelli quotes 4.4 L/100 km. Tests of the first version recorded 3.9 to 4.3 L/100 km, giving a range of over 450 km from the 20-litre tank. The owner’s manual specifies an oil change every 6,000 km or every year and a valve clearance check at 25,000 km. BikeSocial finds these intervals short. Benelli France provides a 3-year warranty for private use.
Recalls
No recall affects the Euro 5 version (2021-2025). On 2017 to 2020 models, three European recalls covered the front brake pump (2017 model year), the shock absorber (fluid leak, 2018-2020 TRK 502 and 502 X) and, on the 502 X only, the rear shock.

The tall screen and handguards give good protection according to MOTORRAD and SoyMotero. RoadRUNNER, however, finds the handlebar bend tiring for the wrists and the seat too soft.
