Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport PRO

2023 Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport PRO: 84.7 hp, air/oil-cooled 1,079 cc twin, Öhlins, 206 kg, €17,190, no longer sold new. Specs and reviews.

At a glance

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport PRO is the sportiest version of the second-generation Scrambler 1100: air/oil-cooled 1,079 cc Desmodue twin (84.7 hp and 90.5 Nm according to the owner's manual), fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, a low handlebar with bar-end mirrors and a Matt Black livery, for 206 kg in running order. Listed at €17,190 by Ducati France from November 2022 until it left the range between September and November 2025, it was the last Scrambler 1100 in a line-up now limited to Scrambler 800 models and has no successor; this page covers the 2023 model year, the last one listed by Ducati. Reviewers praise its finish, cornering precision and gearbox, but criticise an engine that is modest for its size, a firm shock, a hard-to-read dash and a high price.

What the world’s press says

Reviews cover the 2020 and 2021 Sport PRO, technically identical to the 2023 model year. MCN rates it 4/5, Motorcycle.com 84/100, Moto.it 8/10 and InMoto 7.8/10: the meta-score of 81/100 is the average of these four scores, all given to the 2020 Sport PRO. Bennetts BikeSocial, Motorrad, 1000PS and the French site Emoto, the only French outlet to have tested it, gave no numerical score.

What reviewers like: a premium finish (MCN, Moto.it), precise, stable cornering thanks to the Öhlins suspension (MCN, Moto.it, Motorrad, Emoto), easy handling (Bennetts BikeSocial, InMoto, 1000PS), a torquey engine with a deep sound (Motorrad, 1000PS), an outstanding gearbox and a light clutch (Motorcycle.com), the Brembo brakes (1000PS) and very successful styling (Bennetts BikeSocial, InMoto).

What they criticise: an engine that is modest for its size, no faster than the 2018 1100’s (MCN, Bennetts BikeSocial, Motorcycle.com, InMoto), a “Sport” name that Emoto considers undeserved, a firm shock (Motorrad, Moto.it), a tiring position on fast roads and a token pillion seat (Motorrad), dual-purpose tyres at odds with the low handlebar (Motorcycle.com), a small, hard-to-read LCD dash (Bennetts BikeSocial, 1000PS, Emoto), bar-end mirrors (Bennetts BikeSocial) and a high price (MCN, Bennetts BikeSocial, Motorcycle.com, 1000PS, Moto.it; 6/10 for value from InMoto), which Moto.it nonetheless considers in line with its rivals.

MCN

"We like this Ducati, we don't love it."

Moto.it — 2020-05 (Originally in Italiano)

"Although its engine is not the liveliest among its rivals, the 1100 Sport is a joy to ride, in town as on a twisty route. The effort required of the rider is nil, the fun total."

InMoto — 2020-05 (Originally in Italiano)

"For styling and image, the new Scrambler is ticking all the boxes and is a significant step above over the older bike. However, in terms of performance and handling, it is not."

"The sporty, forward-leaning posture practically screams for attack: the Scrambler Sport Pro turns out to be a first-rate corner carver."

Motorrad — 2020-07 (Originally in Deutsch)

"The retro flair that works on the "small" Scrambler 800 models is perfected on the Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro."

1000PS — 2021-07 (Originally in Deutsch)

"On the other hand, with this Öhlins suspension, the ride is much more enjoyable. It's precise, lively but also more comfortable."

Our review

Is the Scrambler 1100 Sport PRO still on sale?

Not new. On 5 September 2025 it was still in the menu of Ducati France’s website, at €17,190; by 3 November 2025 it had gone. It was then the last Scrambler 1100 in the range, after the Tribute PRO and then the Dark PRO had gone. The Scrambler range now only includes second-generation Scrambler 800 models and no new 1100 has been announced: the Sport PRO has no successor.

Ducati’s owner’s manual tool lists the Sport PRO for the 2020 to 2023 model years, with no 2024 or 2025: this page therefore covers the 2023 model year. As the French spec sheet and price did not change afterwards, bikes sold in 2024 and 2025 would be 2023 models, although Ducati does not say so. In the United States, Cycle World listed a “2024” Sport PRO at $17,195, adding that it would not return in 2025.

How much did it cost?

Ducati France launched it at €15,590 in 2020, then listed it at €15,990 in January 2022 and €16,390 in September 2022, before its final price of €17,190, from November 2022 until it was withdrawn. It came in a single colour, Matt Black. The variants of the same generation cost less: €13,990 for the 1100 Dark PRO, €15,490 for the 1100 Tribute PRO; the French price of the 1100 PRO could not be found. In the United States, the Sport PRO went from $15,495 at launch to $17,195.

What sets it apart from the other Scrambler 1100s?

Unveiled on 27 January 2020 alongside the 1100 PRO, it shares that model’s updates: twin stacked silencers on the right, a low plate holder mounted on the swingarm, a shorter rear mudguard, a new seat and a black metal “X” inside the headlight. It stands out with its Öhlins suspension, a lower, narrower handlebar with café racer-style bar-end mirrors, and aluminium tank side panels marked “1100”.

How good is the engine?

The air/oil-cooled 1,079 cc Desmodue L-twin (98 x 71.5 mm) makes 84.7 hp (62.3 kW) at 7,250 rpm and 90.5 Nm at 4,750 rpm according to the owner’s manuals for the Euro 5 2022 and 2023 model years. The French website’s spec sheet still shows 86 hp at 7,500 rpm and 88 Nm, the figures of the first-generation Euro 4 bike; it also differs from the manual on stroke (71 mm) and compression ratio (11:1 versus 11.5:1).

Torquey and full of character for 1000PS and Motorrad, it seems modest for its size: MCN rates it 3/5, Motorcycle.com measured 74 hp at the wheel but praises the gearbox, and Motorrad finds it sluggish below 2,000 rpm.

What chassis?

The steel trellis frame, with an aluminium rear subframe, carries a fully adjustable 48 mm Öhlins upside-down fork and an Öhlins shock, with 150 mm of travel at each end. The manual describes a shock adjustable for preload, rebound and compression, the French website for preload and rebound; the French page also mentions a 45 mm fork, the 1100 PRO’s. The ten-spoke cast wheels (18-inch front, 17-inch rear) wear Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres. Braking combines twin 320 mm semi-floating discs and radial Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers with a 245 mm rear disc.

Moto.it and Motorrad praise its cornering precision; both find the shock firm.

What electronics?

Three riding modes (Active, Journey, City) each combine a power level and a setting of the DTC traction control, which has four levels and can be switched off. Bosch Cornering ABS is standard; the manual allows it to be disabled, whereas the French website says it cannot be. LCD dash, optional Bluetooth, no quickshifter or cruise control.

Fuel consumption and maintenance

Ducati quotes 5.2 L/100 km and 120 g/km of CO2, the same figures as for the Scrambler 800 Urban Motard, giving a range of about 290 km from 15 litres. The foreign press recorded about 5.3 to 5.9 L/100 km. The manual calls for an oil change and a valve clearance check every 12,000 km or 12 months, and timing belt replacement every 24,000 km or 60 months. The warranty was 24 months with unlimited mileage.

Recalls

One recall covers 2018 to 2021 Scrambler 1100 models (NHTSA 20V781000, Safety Gate A12/00022/21) for a risk of short circuit between the exhaust valve cable and the battery wire. The notices do not list versions: the 2020-2021 Sport PRO is probably affected. Nothing for 2022 and 2023.

Who is it for?

With an 810 mm seat and a low handlebar, it targets fans of well-finished modern classics who prefer twisty roads to long trips, Motorrad finding the position uncomfortable on fast roads. Its closest new rivals, the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS and BMW R 12 nineT, are more powerful.

Where does it come from?

The Scrambler 1100 appeared in 2018 (Euro 4) as the 1100, Special and Sport, the latter already on Öhlins. The 1100 PRO and Sport PRO replaced it in 2020 (Euro 5), joined by the Dark PRO in 2021 and the Tribute PRO in 2022.

Ergonomics & rider fit

Riding positionForward-leaning, low narrow handlebar, bar-end mirrors
Passenger comfortDual seat; pillion seat considered token by Motorrad
Wind protectionNone (no flyscreen)
Max total weight396 kg

The Sport PRO puts the rider in a forward-leaning position, with a low, narrow handlebar fitted with round bar-end mirrors, and an 810 mm seat. For Motorrad, this position invites attack on twisty roads but becomes uncomfortable on fast roads; the German magazine also finds the pillion seat token, and Moto.it finds it limited. 1000PS, by contrast, finds the position very comfortable, Emoto likes the flat, low handlebar, and Motorcycle.com appreciates the smooth suspension, except over big bumps. Bennetts BikeSocial would prefer conventional mirrors. With no flyscreen, the bike offers no wind protection. Maximum permissible weight is 396 kg.

Ownership & maintenance

About 5.3 to 5.9 L/100 km (foreign press: Moto.it over 19 km/l, Motorcycle.com 41 US mpg i.e. 5.7 L/100 km, BikeSocial 5.4 to 5.9 L/100 km)

The MY23 owner’s manual specifies a first service at 1,000 km, then an oil and filter change every 12,000 km or 12 months (SAE 15W-50 oil, 3.4 litres) and a desmodromic valve clearance check every 12,000 km. Every 24,000 km, the timing belts (after 60 months at the latest), spark plugs and air filter are replaced; the filter is cleaned at 12,000 km. Brake and clutch fluid are changed every 24 months and fork oil every 36,000 km. The chain is checked and lubricated at every service, and the manual advises replacing the chain kit before 20,000 km.
