What the world’s press says

All the reviews used here cover the V4 S, ridden on track at the March 2025 international launch at the Andalucía circuit in Almería: none assesses the base version with Showa and Sachs suspension, or the bike on open roads. The meta score of 100/100 rests on a single numeric score, MCN’s 5/5; Cycle World, RevZilla, Visordown, MOTORRAD, 1000PS and Moto-Station give no score.

What reviewers like: an engine of rare power yet remarkably controllable (MOTORRAD, RevZilla, MCN in Medium mode), electronics that make the 214 hp usable, from the Ducati Vehicle Observer to Race eCBS combined braking (Moto-Station, RevZilla, Visordown), impressive stability at very high speed for a naked bike (1000PS, MOTORRAD), Brembo Hypure brakes described as phenomenal (Visordown, MCN) and a roomier riding position than the previous generation (MCN, MOTORRAD). MOTORRAD and Moto-Station also find it much quieter than its predecessor, and MOTORRAD notes that it sends far less heat towards the rider. Cycle World sums it up: nearly all the performance of a Panigale V4 S, with more everyday comfort. Visordown calls it a “friendly giant” rather than an untameable beast.

What they criticise: the price (MCN, which scores value at 4/5, 1000PS, Cycle World, RevZilla, Moto-Station), windblast at very high speed (Cycle World, RevZilla), a quickshifter that occasionally cut power unexpectedly (RevZilla), slight nervousness in slow direction changes (MCN), mild brake fade at the end of a session with the stock pads (MOTORRAD), Desmo service costs and the optional pillion seat (1000PS), a tall seat and a single colour (Moto-Station).

Still to be checked: road manners, which Moto-Station and Visordown could not test, and the quality of the base version’s suspension.

Our review

Which model year, and how much in France?

Ducati France lists the base Streetfighter V4 at €25,290, and its configurator shows it as a 2027 model. Technically, it is the generation unveiled on 28 November 2024 and in dealerships since March 2025: we found no technical change announced since, the 2026 model year mainly bringing new liveries for the V4 S. The French range also includes the V4 S (€28,890), the V4 S in a Corse livery inspired by the 2025 Desmosedici GP (€30,890) and a Collezione100 series, the V4 S 100, in a livery inspired by the 1979 900 Sport Desmo Darmah. The base version only comes in Ducati Red and leaves the factory as a single-seater: the pillion seat and footpegs are accessories. In the US, Ducati lists it at $24,595 excluding destination.

What changed with the 2025 generation?

Ducati presents it as a seventh-generation Panigale V4 stripped of its fairing, with the same engine and the same chassis and electronic solutions. Compared with the 2024 Streetfighter V4, it gains 6 hp, meets Euro 5+ and swaps the single-sided swingarm for a hollow double-sided one that Ducati says is 43% less stiff laterally. The Front Frame (the aluminium front frame bolted straight to the engine, which acts as a stressed member) weighs 3.47 kg instead of 4.42 kg and loses 39% of its lateral stiffness for better feel at lean. The geometry differs slightly from the Panigale’s (+0.5° of rake, +1 mm of trail) for extra stability. The biplane wings produce 17 kg more downforce at 270 km/h, the handlebar sits 10 mm closer and the footpegs are lower, further forward and 10 mm further inward. The base version weighs 191 kg without fuel, against 195 kg for the 2024 base model according to Ducati USA.

How good is the engine?

The 1,103 cc 90° Desmosedici Stradale V4 (81 x 53.5 mm, 14.0:1 compression) keeps its counter-rotating crankshaft, which spins against the wheels to curb wheelies and speed up direction changes, and its desmodromic valvetrain, where a rocker mechanically closes each valve. It gets higher-lift camshafts and variable-length intake trumpets (25 or 80 mm), and makes 214 hp (157.4 kW) at 13,500 rpm and 120 Nm at 11,250 rpm, two horsepower down on the Panigale because of the intake. At idle, the electronics can shut down the rear two cylinders to cut fuel use and the heat felt by the rider. The US version is rated at 205 hp, a gap RevZilla puts down to US noise standards.

MCN finds it brutally exciting in the Full and High power modes but almost docile in Medium. 1000PS notes that it needs 5,000 rpm to pull properly and 9,000 rpm for real thrust, and RevZilla calls it linear and surprisingly friendly. The 2026 owner’s manual also lists a homologation “only for the Belgium / France version” at 84 kW (114.2 hp) and 104.5 Nm, so check with your dealer which output appears on the registration document.

How does the base version ride?

It gets a 43 mm Showa BPF upside-down fork (125 mm of travel) and a Sachs shock (130 mm), both fully adjustable, a Sachs steering damper, five-spoke cast alloy wheels and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres in 120/70 and 200/60 ZR17. Braking relies on twin 330 mm discs and Brembo Hypure calipers, lighter than the Stylemas and designed to shed heat better. The wheelbase is 1,496 mm and the seat sits at 845 mm. The V4 S adds Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 semi-active (electronically adjusted) suspension, forged wheels and a lithium battery, for 189 kg.

Bear in mind that every international review used here was carried out on the V4 S, on track, at the March 2025 launch at the Andalucía circuit in Almería. We found no test of the base version and its Showa and Sachs suspension. On the V4 S, 1000PS praises astonishing stability beyond 250 km/h, MOTORRAD a chassis that no longer shakes like the old one, and MCN extra feel, with slight nervousness in slow direction changes.

What electronics?

Everything is standard: a six-axis IMU, the Ducati Vehicle Observer (a MotoGP-derived algorithm that simulates more than 70 sensors to refine the rider aids), traction control, wheelie control, slide control, adjustable engine braking, launch control, pit limiter and the two-way DQS 2.0 quickshifter. The five-level cornering ABS comes with Race eCBS, a combined braking system that adds rear brake when you use the front. Four riding modes (Race, Sport, Road, Wet) and four power modes are shown on a 6.9-inch TFT screen. Cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, the Ducati Multimedia System Bluetooth link and navigation are only pre-wired: you have to buy them as accessories.

Fuel consumption and maintenance

Ducati quotes 7.1 L/100 km and 165 g/km of CO2. With 16 litres, 4 of them reserve, the theoretical range is about 225 km; we found no consumption figure measured by reviewers, who rode on track. The manual specifies a first service at 1,000 km or 6 months, then an oil change every 12,000 km or 24 months, an annual service, and a Desmo Service every 24,000 km (valve clearance, spark plugs, air filter and coolant). The warranty runs for 24 months with unlimited mileage.

Who is it for?

The Streetfighter V4 requires a full A licence and there is no A2 version. It is aimed at experienced riders who want superbike performance with a flat handlebar and enjoy track days. 1000PS finds it easy to ride, even for less experienced riders, thanks to its well-metered power and stability; MCN warns that it is still a beast to be tamed with the aids switched off.

Where does it come from?

The Streetfighter name has been used by Ducati since the 2009 model year. The 2020 Streetfighter V4, a fairing-less 208 hp Panigale V4 with wings and a single-sided swingarm, updated in 2023, is the second generation in Ducati’s own naming; the 2025 bike is the third.

Recalls

One campaign covers the rear brake hose, which heat from an exhaust header can damage because of a misplaced protective sleeve: in Europe, it concerns Panigale and Streetfighter bikes built between 20 May 2024 and 2 September 2025, in the US 2025 and 2026 Streetfighter V4 and V4 S. Another recall (rear wheel axle) affects 2020 to 2025 Streetfighter V4s of the previous, single-sided generation; its type-approval numbers are not those of the current generation.

Ergonomics & rider fit

Riding positionSporty naked derived from the Panigale V4: wide, flat handlebar moved 10 mm closer, footpegs lower, further forward and 10 mm further inward (vs 2024)
Passenger comfortSingle seat as standard (passenger seat and footpegs available as accessories)
Wind protectionNone (naked bike without fairing)
Max total weight425 kg

The Streetfighter V4 borrows the Panigale V4’s riding position with a wide, flat handlebar: for 2025, Ducati moved it 10 mm closer, lowered and moved the footpegs forward and set them 10 mm further inward to keep ground clearance. The roomier seat-tank unit gives taller riders more freedom of movement, and the flanks of the 16-litre tank help you lock in with your knees under braking. Ducts in the side panels push hot air away from your legs. The seat sits at 845 mm, which Moto-Station finds tall: you are tipped forward, with reasonable weight on the wrists and enough room for a 1.83 m rider. MCN finds the position natural and more welcoming for bigger riders. Cycle World notes that the wide bar puts the rider further forward than on some other naked bikes and that the windblast becomes tiring at very high speed, with no protection at all. The bike comes as a single-seater: the pillion seat and footpegs are optional, which 1000PS regrets. The maximum permissible weight is 425 kg.

The 2026 owner’s manual specifies a first service (Oil Service 1000) at 1,000 km or within 6 months, then an oil and filter change (Oil Service) every 12,000 km or 24 months and an annual service every 12 months, without an oil change. The Desmo Service, every 24,000 km, covers valve clearance checks and adjustment, spark plug and air filter replacement and a coolant change, also due every 48 months. Brake and clutch fluids are replaced every 24 months, fork oil every 36 months, and Ducati advises replacing the chain kit before 20,000 km. Between services, check oil level, tyres, brake pads and chain tension every 1,000 km or 6 months. The engine takes 15W-50 oil (3.3 litres with the filter). 1000PS lists Desmo service costs among the bike’s drawbacks; we found no reliable service price. The manufacturer warranty lasts 24 months with unlimited mileage. A recall concerns the rear brake hose on bikes built between 20 May 2024 and 2 September 2025.
