CFMoto 700MT
2026 CFMoto 700MT: 67 hp 693 cc twin adventure bike, 240 kg, A2-restrictable, €7,099 in France. Full specs, press reviews, rivals and maintenance.
At a glance
The CFMoto 700MT is a road-biased adventure bike on 19- and 17-inch spoked wheels, powered by a 67 hp, 693 cc parallel twin, and available restricted for the A2 licence; this page covers the second generation, launched in 2025 and on sale in 2026. Priced at €7,099 in France, it comes with a heated seat and grips, TPMS, traction control, crash bars and a 5-year warranty, equipment rarely found at this price. Reviewers praise this value, its comfort and its large tank, but criticise its 240 kg weight, an unexciting engine that vibrates at high revs, suspension and brakes that could be better, and the lack of cruise control.

Press ratings
An engaging, well-equipped adventure tourer with excellent ergonomics: heated grips and seat, comfortable long-travel suspension, a big tank and good luggage options; the suspension is its lowest-rated area.
A clear step up from the first generation: comfort and equipment from the class above, faultless brakes, convincing CST tyres; weight noticeable at standstill, rather soft suspension, no cruise control and high fuel consumption.
Unbeatable value for the equipment, excellent wind protection and a seat worthy of a premium bike; dated technical base, an engine neither particularly smooth nor frugal, a basic chassis that stiffens on poor surfaces, slightly dull brakes and flimsy handguards.
3,000 km test: exceptional equipment for the price, finish above its class, good brakes and good stability; heavy, limited payload, ABS not cornering-optimised, vibrations above 6,000 rpm and turbulence above 160 km/h.
Easy and surprisingly effective in corners for its weight, convincing suspension, careful finish, full equipment and an aggressive price; vibrations around 6,500-7,000 rpm, helmet turbulence and brakes without much bite.
Affordable adventure tourer, comfortable ergonomics, suspension well set up for the road and excellent value for the equipment; an engine that needs revs, weight, spongy brakes and instability above 135 km/h.
First generation (17-inch wheels): an endearing, versatile and protective GT adventure bike with quality suspension and a sound chassis; front brake lacks bite, dished seat and no traction control.
Press synthesis
What the world’s press says
Seven reviews cover the second generation (MCN, Bike Review, SoyMotero, MOTORRAD, Motorrad & Reisen, MotorBox and 1000PS), and no French press review of this generation was found. The average score of 80/100 rests on a narrow base: MCN is the only reference publication to score the bike, with 4/5. Australia’s Bike Review gives it 8.4/10, but it is not one of our reference publications and its score is not included in the average. Le Repaire des Motards tested the first generation in 2024.
What reviewers like: standard equipment rarely found at this price (every review), the long warranty and the price (MCN), comfort and ergonomics (Bike Review, SoyMotero, 1000PS), wind protection and a seat worthy of a premium bike (MOTORRAD), a finish above its class (Motorrad & Reisen, MotorBox) and cornering ability that surprised MotorBox. MCN also likes the low seat, reassuring for shorter riders, and the CST tyres, faultless in the wet and the dry.
What they criticise: the weight (SoyMotero, Motorrad & Reisen, 1000PS), slow steering and a riding position cramped for taller riders (MCN), an unexciting engine that vibrates at high revs (MCN, MOTORRAD, Motorrad & Reisen, MotorBox), suspension that crashes or stiffens (MCN, MOTORRAD) or is too soft (SoyMotero), slightly dull brakes (MOTORRAD, 1000PS), turbulence at high speed (Motorrad & Reisen, MotorBox, 1000PS), ABS that is not cornering-optimised (Motorrad & Reisen) and the lack of cruise control (SoyMotero).

Our review
Which version and what price in France?
The 700MT is sold in a single version at €7,099 (recommended retail price before offers). A €300 bonus brought it down to €6,799 until 30 September 2026; that offer has now expired. It comes fully equipped: heated seat and grips, tyre pressure sensors, adjustable screen, crash bars, skid plate and handguards. Quick-release aluminium cases are available as an option. For the A2 licence, the dealer restricts it to 35 kW (47.5 hp) and can restore full power later, without changing bikes. Two colours are offered: Noir Nébula and Concept Blue, a white and blue scheme called Nebula White in other markets.
Which generation?
CFMoto France does not display a model year. This page covers the second generation (type CF700-9A), launched in March 2025 and still in the range in 2026 with no identified change. The first generation, launched in France in July 2023 to replace the 650MT, ran on 17-inch cast wheels with an 18-litre tank and had no traction control. The second generation switches to 19- and 17-inch spoked wheels, a 20-litre tank, a wheelbase stretched to 1,445 mm and much richer comfort equipment.
How good is the engine?
The 693 cc parallel twin (83 x 64 mm, 11.6:1), with double overhead camshafts and liquid cooling, is homologated to Euro 5+. CFMoto France’s owner’s manual and the German and British importers quote 67 hp (50 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 60 Nm at 6,000 rpm; the French model page gives 9,000 and 7,250 rpm, the first generation’s figures. The gearbox has six speeds, the clutch is a slipper unit and the throttle is still cable-operated. CFMoto quotes a top speed of 180 km/h.
Opinions are mixed: Bike Review finds the engine engaging, but MCN finds it lacks wow factor, with slightly jerky pick-up from a closed throttle low in the revs. MOTORRAD finds it neither particularly smooth nor frugal, and Motorrad & Reisen notes vibrations above 6,000 rpm.
How does it ride?
The tubular steel frame carries an adjustable 43 mm upside-down fork, a monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound (150 and 148 mm of travel), an aluminium swingarm and J.Juan brakes with twin front discs. Official sources disagree on the front disc diameter and on the extent of the fork adjustment. The dual-channel ABS can be switched off at the rear, together with the traction control.
MotorBox was surprised by how well it corners and MCN finds it stable, but the steering is slow according to MCN, the suspension crashes over bigger bumps (MCN) or stiffens on poor surfaces (MOTORRAD), and the brakes feel slightly dull to MOTORRAD and 1000PS.
Equipment
The instruments are built around a 5-inch colour TFT, with Bluetooth connection to a phone and helmet. Traction control and rear ABS can be switched off, the sensors display tyre pressures, and lighting is full LED. There are no riding modes, no cruise control, no quickshifter and no cornering ABS.
Who is it for?
CFMoto France aims it at long days in the saddle, solo or two-up. With its low seat and 20-litre tank, it targets budget-conscious tourers, including A2 licence holders. Reviews compare it with the Benelli TRK 702, the Voge DS625X and the more expensive Honda XL750 Transalp, among others.
Fuel consumption and maintenance
CFMoto quotes 5.0 L/100 km (118 g/km CO2), giving a range of about 400 km. Reviewers recorded from 4.6 L/100 km while running in (Motorrad & Reisen) to 5.9 L/100 km (SoyMotero). The manual calls for an oil change every 5,000 km or 6 months and a valve check at 40,000 km.
Recalls
No recall affects the 700MT in France (RappelConso), in the European Union (Safety Gate) or in the United States, where it is not sold. In Australia, recall REC-006529 (January 2026) covered six first-generation 700MTs (2023-2024) whose rear tyre steel belt could be damaged; there is no indication that it concerns the second generation sold in France.

Ergonomics & rider fit
| Riding position | Road-biased adventure: upright, wide handlebars |
|---|---|
| Wind protection | Large manually adjustable screen |
| Max total weight | 405 kg |
The 700MT offers a road-biased adventure riding position, upright with wide handlebars. CFMoto France’s owner’s manual gives a seat height of 804 mm; the German and British importers and the 2025 French launch announcement quote 800 mm, while the French model page shows 840 mm, the first generation’s figure. A low seat is available as an accessory. Bike Review rates the ergonomics as excellent and MOTORRAD finds the seat worthy of a premium bike, but MCN describes a low position with high knees and feet almost forward, cramped for taller riders. The large screen is adjusted by hand; MOTORRAD praises the wind protection, while Motorrad & Reisen notes turbulence above 160 km/h. The manual sets the maximum permitted weight at 405 kg, leaving 165 kg for rider, passenger and luggage (175 kg according to CFMoto Germany), a payload Motorrad & Reisen finds limited.

CFMoto France’s owner’s manual for the second generation specifies a running-in service at 1,000 km, then an oil and filter change every 5,000 km or 6 months (SAE 10W-40 oil, 2.4 litres with the filter). Spark plugs are replaced at 10,000 km, the air filter at 20,000 km or 24 months, coolant at 35,000 km or 24 months, and valve clearance is checked at 40,000 km. The chain is lubricated and adjusted every 1,000 km. CFMoto France’s maintenance advice page gives a service every 5,000 km or yearly for the 700 range, and the manual asks for intervals to be halved under severe use. No source gives the cost of a service. CFMoto France’s warranty is 5 years for bikes registered in 2026, up to 60,000 km: parts and labour for the first two years, then engine, gearbox and frame only from the 3rd to the 5th year, with servicing in the official network required.
