Ducati Streetfighter V2

2027 Ducati Streetfighter V2: 120 hp naked bike, 890 cc V2 twin, 178 kg without fuel, €15,990. Full specs, press reviews and rivals.

At a glance

The new-generation Ducati Streetfighter V2 is a sporty naked bike derived from the Panigale V2, powered by the new 890 cc V2 twin (120 hp, 93.3 Nm) in an aluminium monocoque frame, at 178 kg without fuel. Ducati France sells it for €15,990 as a 2027 model year (€18,490 for the Öhlins-equipped V2 S), also in a 35 kW version for A2 licence holders. Reviewers, who mostly rode the V2 S, praise a light, easy and playful bike, but criticise its quickshifter, firm seat, an engine less powerful and less characterful than the old 955, and a high price.

What the world’s press says

Reviews cover the generation launched in 2025, technically identical to the 2027 model year, and almost all of them the V2 S, ridden at the press launch in Almería, Spain, with reviews published in April 2025: only Moto Magazine tested the base V2. The 86/100 meta-score is therefore based on two numeric scores given to the V2 S, MCN’s 4/5 and Motorcycle.com’s 91/100. MOTORRAD awards it 689 points out of 1,000 on its scale, not included in the meta-score as on our other Ducati pages, because that scale structurally penalises naked bikes (no points for wind protection). Visordown, Cycle World, RevZilla, 1000PS and Le Repaire des Motards tested it without a score; Visordown named it best middleweight bike of 2025.

What reviewers like: the lightness and agility, highlighted by everyone, and an ease unprecedented for a Streetfighter (Cycle World calls it “the friendliest” of the line, MCN one of the most fun Ducatis on the road). The engine gets 5/5 from MCN, which finds it far more playful than the 955, and Visordown praises its low-down torque. Motorcycle.com gives 10/10 for ergonomics and 15/15 for suspension, Visordown finds it very comfortable over a full day, 1000PS praises its stability. MOTORRAD scores the engine and brakes well, Le Repaire des Motards the electronics and build quality.

What they criticise: the DQS 2.0 quickshifter, criticised almost everywhere (“a step in the wrong direction” for Motorcycle.com, a false neutral between second and first for Cycle World, notchy for 1000PS, too soft a setting for MCN); a very firm seat and vibrations through the footpegs (MCN); clearly less power than the 955 (Visordown, 1000PS) and a rather bland engine character (Le Repaire des Motards); fiddly TFT buttons (Visordown) and a badly placed cruise control button, while cruise control and heated grips cost extra (MCN). Finally, the price comes up at MCN (3/5 for value), 1000PS, MOTORRAD and Le Repaire des Motards: “€18,000 (give or take €10) for the S, with no room for a passenger, is bordering on abuse”.

Our review

Which model year and price in France?

The Streetfighter V2 is sold for €15,990 by Ducati France, whose configurator lists it as a 2027 model year. Technically, it is the generation unveiled on 5 November 2024 and available since the end of March 2025: no technical change has been announced since, the 2026 model year only adding the Ducati Yellow colour to the V2 S. The latter costs €18,490 in Ducati Red and €18,890 in Ducati Yellow. Both versions also come in a 35 kW version for the A2 licence, at the same price. In the United States, the V2 is listed at $15,995 and the V2 S from $18,995, plus destination.

What does the V2 S change?

The V2 S replaces the fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and Kayaba shock with a 43 mm Öhlins NIX30 fork and an Öhlins shock. It gets a lithium-ion battery, Ducati Power Launch launch control and the Pit Limiter as standard (accessories on the V2), and weighs 175 kg instead of 178 kg at kerb without fuel. On the other hand, it comes as a single-seater, the pillion seat being an accessory, whereas the V2 is a two-seater.

What has changed compared with the 955?

From 2022 to 2024, the Streetfighter V2 used the Panigale V2’s 955 cc desmodromic Superquadro twin, with 153 hp. The new generation is based on the Panigale V2 unveiled alongside it: new 890 cc V2 twin, aluminium monocoque frame using the engine as a stressed member and doubling as the airbox, double-sided swingarm instead of the single-sided one, Brembo M50 calipers, DQS 2.0 quickshifter and 5-inch TFT dash. Ducati calls it the lightest Streetfighter ever built, 18 kg lighter than the previous model: the 955 weighed 193 kg at kerb without fuel, the new V2 S 175 kg. Its swingarm is 30 mm longer than the Panigale V2’s, and a Sachs steering damper is fitted as standard.

How good is the engine?

The 890 cc 90° V-twin (96 x 61.5 mm, 13.1:1 compression) drops desmodromic valve actuation for spring-returned valves and adopts intake variable valve timing (IVT), which shifts the intake camshaft timing over a 52° range. It weighs 54.4 kg, more than 9 kg less than the Superquadro according to Ducati, and makes 120 hp (88 kW) at 10,750 rpm and 93.3 Nm at 8,250 rpm, with Euro 5+ approval. In Wet mode, power is limited to 95 hp.

MCN gives this engine 5/5, finding it far more playful than the 955. Visordown praises its low-down torque, but notes the clear drop in power compared with the previous generation (33 hp less), which 1000PS also thinks may disappoint some. Le Repaire des Motards finds its character rather bland.

How does it ride?

The wheelbase is 1,493 mm, the rake 24.1° and the trail 103 mm. Braking is handled by twin 320 mm semi-floating discs gripped by four-piston Brembo M50 radial monobloc calipers, with Bosch cornering ABS. Reviewers unanimously praise its lightness and agility: Cycle World calls it the friendliest Streetfighter ever, Motorcycle.com gives it 10/10 for ergonomics and 1000PS highlights its stability. MCN, however, regrets a very firm seat and vibrations through the footpegs.

What electronics?

The six-axis IMU manages cornering ABS (3 levels), DTC traction control (8 levels), DWC wheelie control and EBC engine brake control. Four riding modes (Race, Sport, Road, Wet) combine three power modes. The DQS 2.0 two-way quickshifter is standard on both versions, but it is the most criticised item: missed shifts for Motorcycle.com, a false neutral between second and first for Cycle World, too soft a setting for MCN. Cruise control, heated grips, tyre pressure monitoring and the Ducati Multimedia System are only pre-wired, to be activated as accessories.

Who is it for?

For riders looking for a light sporty naked bike, effective on twisty roads as well as on a track day, without the power or the price of the Streetfighter V4; the 35 kW version also opens it to A2 licence holders. With no wind protection and a firm seat, it is ill-suited to long journeys, and it costs about €3,000 more than the KTM 990 Duke or the Yamaha MT-09 SP, the former being more powerful.

Fuel consumption, maintenance and recalls

Ducati quotes 5.3 L/100 km (123 g/km CO2), giving a theoretical range of about 280 km from the 15-litre tank; no review has published a measured fuel consumption. The owner’s manual calls for an oil change every 15,000 km or 24 months and a valve clearance check every 45,000 km. The warranty is 24 months with unlimited mileage. A December 2025 NHTSA recall covers 2025 and 2026 Streetfighter V2 models whose ABS fuses may have been swapped during assembly.

Ergonomics & rider fit

Riding positionSporty naked: slightly forward-leaning towards a wide one-piece handlebar, more upright than on the Panigale V2
Passenger comfortTwo-seater on the V2; V2 S delivered as a single-seater (pillion seat as an accessory)
Wind protectionNone (unfaired naked bike)
Max total weight410 kg

The Streetfighter V2 puts the rider slightly leaning towards a wide one-piece handlebar, in a more upright position than on the Panigale V2, with an 838 mm seat. Motorcycle.com finds the ergonomics fairly neutral and gives them 10/10, finding the seat a little tall but comfortable; Visordown had no trouble riding it for a full day, easy on the wrists and legs. MCN finds the position ideal for average-sized riders, a little cramped for taller ones, and the seat very firm after a full day; Cycle World finds the handlebar a bit low in town. With no fairing, it offers no wind protection. The V2 is a two-seater, the V2 S comes as a single-seater, which Le Repaire des Motards regrets at this price. The maximum permissible weight is 410 kg.

The owner’s manual specifies a first service at 1,000 km or 6 months, then an oil and filter change (Oil Service) every 15,000 km or 24 months and an annual Service Check every 12 months. The Valve Check, every 45,000 km, includes the valve clearance check, the valves now being spring-returned rather than desmodromic, spark plug replacement and a coolant change, also due every 48 months. The air filter is replaced every 30,000 km, fork oil every 45,000 km, brake and clutch fluids every 24 months, and Ducati recommends replacing the chain kit before 20,000 km. The engine takes 3.8 litres of 15W-50 oil. The engine presentation text on Ducati France’s website still mentions a valve check every 30,000 km, but the spec sheet and the manual give 45,000 km. We found no reliable service price. Ducati France’s warranty is 24 months with unlimited mileage. A US recall (NHTSA 25V838000) concerns ABS fuses swapped during assembly.
