What the world’s press says

No review of the 2025 and 2026 model years has been published, as they carry over the original engine and chassis. Reviews cover the 2022 launch model, and 1000PS’s comparison test the 2024 model year. The 76/100 meta-score is therefore calculated from the only two numeric scores available, given to the 2022 model: 3/5 from MCN and 92.5/100 from Motorcycle.com. BikeSocial, Visordown, 1000PS and Le Repaire des Motards tested it without a numeric score.

What reviewers like: a smooth, lively twin, an excellent Easy Shift quickshifter (MCN, BikeSocial, 1000PS), a seat comfortable for long days (MCN, Motorcycle.com), quality finish (MCN, Le Repaire des Motards), standard cruise control and a low centre of gravity thanks to the low-mounted tank (1000PS). Motorcycle.com calls it possibly “the best all-around ADV bike on the market in 2022”.

What they criticise: a low, non-adjustable screen that offers little upper-body protection (MCN, BikeSocial, 1000PS, Le Repaire des Motards), electronics whose modes are not linked to the rider aids (MCN, Le Repaire des Motards), merely adequate brakes (BikeSocial, 1000PS), heat on the calves (1000PS) and awkward positioning against the KTM 890 Adventure models, cheaper at the time of the tests (MCN, Visordown).

Key quotes

"It is by no means a bad bike, it’s just that the middleweight adventure bike market is already chock full of impressive machines that all excel at different things. It’s a bit of a 'jack of all trades, master of none', which could be exactly what you’re after – or it might not."

MCN — 2024-07

"It may not eclipse the 890 Adventure R when the going gets really rough, but it more than makes up for that with superior comfort over the long haul. In fact, it might just be the best all-around ADV bike on the market in 2022."

Motorcycle.com — 2021-11

"If you’re serious about your off-road riding – making deep river crossings and riding wide open in 5th and 6th gears – then the KTM’s R version would be a better option. But, for the other 99% of us, the Norden 901 does it all."

Bennetts BikeSocial — 2022-03

"While it does indeed have more suspension travel, ground clearance and improved styling, each of those points has spoilt the handling of what is the best mid-weight adventure bike around."

Visordown — 2021-11

"The Husqvarna Norden 901 can be described as a playful, nimble, and enjoyable enduro bike that always delivers performance, but also requires active riding."

1000PS — 2024-04

"With the Norden 901, Husqvarna offers a true adventure tourer that has not forgotten to be beautiful. Easy, intuitive, balanced, dynamic and comfortable, the Swedish bike is a pleasure at every moment."

Le Repaire des Motards — 2021-11 (Originally in Français)

Our review

Which versions and what price in France?

Husqvarna France offers two versions of the Norden 901 for 2026. The Norden 901 lists at €14,699, and a temporary promotion showed it at €13,187 in October 2026. The travel-oriented Norden 901 Expedition costs €16,399 (promotion shown at €14,899): it gets a 48 mm WP XPLOR fork, 240 mm of travel front and rear, Explorer mode as standard and touring equipment, for 214.5 kg without fuel. The 2026 list price of the standard version is lower than that of the 2024 and 2025 model years (€15,399). In the United States, where the 2027 model year is already on sale, the Norden 901 costs $15,349 plus $800 freight. The French website does not mention an A2 version.

What changes for 2026?

Nothing: the 2025 and 2026 spec sheets on the French website are identical word for word, and the 2026 page uses the 2024 model’s photos. The last update came with the 2024 model year, with a Euro 5+ compliant exhaust, a USB socket, hazard lights and a new grey and yellow livery. In 2025, the rear silencer switched from stainless steel to aluminium.

How good is the engine?

The 889 cc parallel twin (890 cc in the 2025 and 2026 manuals), shared with the KTM 890 Adventure, makes 105 hp (77 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 100 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Two balancer shafts keep it smooth, and 1000PS found no vibrations. The six-speed gearbox comes with a PASC slipper clutch and a standard two-way Easy Shift quickshifter, highly rated by MCN, BikeSocial and 1000PS. Husqvarna quotes 4.5 L/100 km without stating the test cycle, and a range of more than 400 km from the 19-litre tank; BikeSocial recorded 5.1 L/100 km during its test.

How does it ride?

The chromoly steel frame uses the engine as a stressed member. The 43 mm WP APEX upside-down fork offers 220 mm of travel and is adjustable for compression and rebound. At the rear, the WP APEX shock offers 215 mm of travel; the owner’s manual only lists rebound and preload adjustment, whereas the website also claims compression, and Motorcycle.com noted the lack of compression adjustment. J.Juan brakes pair twin 320 mm floating discs with four-piston radial calipers. The 21- and 18-inch spoked wheels take tubeless tyres (Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR as original equipment). Ground clearance is 252 mm, the wheelbase 1,513 mm, and the bike weighs 204 kg without fuel; Husqvarna does not publish a wet weight.

The foreign press is divided: Motorcycle.com and BikeSocial praise its comfort and versatility, while Visordown feels its extra travel and ground clearance spoil the handling of the KTM 890 Adventure.

What electronics?

The Norden 901 comes standard with Street, Rain and Offroad modes. According to the 2026 owner’s manual, Explorer mode remains optional on the standard version (it is standard on the Expedition), even though the website text no longer says so. It unlocks the Slip Adjuster, which sets rear-wheel slip over 9 levels according to the manual and the website (press releases announced 10 levels). The MTC traction control is lean-sensitive and can be switched off, and the Bosch 9MB ABS works in corners in Road mode and frees the rear wheel in Offroad mode. Cruise control, the 5-inch TFT screen, full LED lighting with fog lights and a USB-C socket are standard; the connectivity unit and the heated grips and seat are optional.

Who is it for?

The Norden 901 targets riders who want a versatile adventure bike, comfortable on the road and capable on trails, without going as far as the radical KTM 890 Adventure R. Its 859 mm seat (879 mm in the high position) suits taller riders.

Reliability and recalls

No recall affects the Norden 901 (NHTSA, Safety Gate, RappelConso). MCN reports that in 2024 KTM responded publicly to allegations of defective camshafts in some models using the LC8c engine, including Husqvarnas; no recall campaign is associated with them.

The Norden 901 offers an upright adventure riding position, with a two-position seat at 859 or 879 mm (the 2024 French website listed 854/874 mm). The tapered aluminium handlebar mounts in six positions over a 30 mm range. MCN highlights the work done on the seat, comfortable all day. The short, non-adjustable screen offers little upper-body protection according to BikeSocial, MCN and 1000PS, and Le Repaire des Motards finds it a little short. 1000PS reports heat on the calves, and Motorcycle.com a gear lever too short and low for stiff boots. The maximum permitted weight is 450 kg.
